Mitosis

Nirasawa started her cell project in 2013 and she has explored various themes such as the dying cell, the diseased cell and cell division. This Mitosis is 6th project. Basic concept of the all works have an image of repeating and multiplying to infinity. This concept came from her life experiences in India where she observed the obsession with death and the cycle of reincarnation. In the Mitosis series, each work will be occupied by small organic forms, which is a metaphor of human cells. It focuses on the constant cycle of cell creation and destruction.
